Editor's Review

The lessons are short and practical. You're not memorizing obscure vocabulary you'll never use. Instead, you're learning real phrases, common sentence structures, and how to actually string words together. The app uses spaced repetition, so it shows you words right before you'd forget them. That sounds technical, but what it means is: you remember more with less effort. There's also a speaking practice mode where you repeat phrases out loud, and the app listens. It's not perfect, but it's good enough to catch when you're butchering a Japanese vowel or rolling your R's wrong in Spanish.

What surprised me most is how it handles multiple languages. You can switch between them freely without losing progress. So if you're bored with German one day and want to try Korean, you can just hop over. The interface stays clean and uncluttered. No ads popping up mid-lesson, no upsells every three minutes. You just pick a language and go.

There's a social feature too — you can join groups or challenge friends. It's not a core part of the experience, but it adds a little pressure if you're competitive. For the rest of us, it's easy to ignore.

If you've tried Duolingo and felt like it was too gamey, or Babbel and thought it was too dry, Airlearn sits somewhere in the middle. It's calm, direct, and respects your time. Best for: anyone who wants to learn a language without feeling like they're playing a slot machine.
